Some Technical and Research Related Errors of “Urdu Tehqiq: Sorat e Hal Aur Taqazey”

Abstract:

“Urdu Taḥqīq: S̱ūrat-e Ḥāl aur Taqāzay” is a research-oriented Urdu book written and compiled by the renowned Pakistani scholar Dr. Moinuddin Aqeel. The volume primarily consists of the author’s previously published articles on various literary and critical topics, many of which originally appeared in different Urdu research journals across Pakistan. Despite its scholarly value, the book contains several technical, historical, and research-related inaccuracies. Broadly, four categories of errors can be identified:

1. Conceptual confusion regarding the quality and quantity of Urdu research in Pakistan
2. Incorrect publication years of books cited as reference works
3. Mistakes in the titles of books mentioned in the text
4. Repetition of textual discussions and research material
The present article examines and highlights the book's shortcomings and deficiencies.
