Abstract:

Stylistics is the name of the linguistic study of literature. In which literary art is studied and analyzed in the light of linguistics and the characteristics of the style of art are examined at every level. There are different levels of linguistics like phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics etc. with the help of these levels, the stylistic features of any literary work are determined. Every writer, poet and humorist has his own style which gives his writings a special quality. Waheed ur Rehman khan is a contemporary humorist. Three of his books have been published. Humor is present in his writings along with his charming style. He is good at playing with words and know how to put a smile on the face of the reader with his sentences. This article provides a stylistic analysis of Waheed ur Rehman khan’s Urdu prose works, gaftani shagaftani, hafze matabassum and khama kharabian.
